The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services have confirmed that crews are responding to multiple fires across the district.
All three fires are being fuelled by very strong winds and high fuel loads caused by mixed vegetation.
The first fire has broken out in the Waterval area outside Tulbagh, where two private homes and a wooden structure have unfortunately been destroyed. A second fire is burning in the veld adjacent to the landfill site near Wellington and is being driven towards a residential area. A third fire is burning in the veld near Val de Vie outside Paarl.
