Zakariyyaa Martin (16), a learner at Paarl Gimnasium High School, and Sasha Solomons (15), a learner at New Orleans Secondary School, recently competed in the 2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour over a distance of 109 km. There were more than 100 participants in the u-17 category and Zakariyyaa finished in 1st place and Sasha 8th place. Both riders, who are part of the Character Through Cycling club, clocked less than three-hour times, with Zakariyyaa finishing only seven minutes and Sasha 19 minutes slower than the fastest time of the day. Two weeks ago Zakariyyaa also won the u-17 Perdeberg Road Race over a distance of 75 km. Pictured here are Sasha Solomons (left) and Zakariyyaa Martin.
