On Tuesday 15 November the TC Newman Hospital in Charleston Hill will host a special men’s health session, and invites men from Drakenstein to join them.
The Western Cape Department of Health partners with local role-players to support men with their current health-care needs and to empower men to take responsibility for their health for life.
Entry is free and men of all ages can visit TC Newman between 10:00 and 19:00.
“Show you care about the well-being of the future of the men in your family and household, by encouraging them to join us,” urges health-care worker Leonard Maschilla.
“We’ve extended the time so that as many men as possible are able to come.”
What to expect on the day: information sessions on manhood and fatherhood, screening for prostate cancer, lucky draws, Covid-19 vaccination, a moustache competition, testing for HIV and TB as well as sexually transmitted infections.
Also, information on protecting one’s mental health, growing one’s own garden, Cansa Shavathon, family planning, talks on the role of the father in the life of a young child and fun exercises.
“It is easy to neglect yourself, to put off going to the clinic if you have a concern,” says Maschilla. “Make 15 November the day you step forward to take charge of your health. We look forward to journeying with you.”
