Mossop Leather, Wellington’s iconic leather tannery, has donated 83 pairs of Bronx school shoes through Moms of Wellington, a non-profit organisation, which helps children from underprivileged communities in the area with early childhood development, a feeding scheme and preparing them for school.

Says Gert Kruger, CEO of Mossop Leather: “We’ve been supporting charities in Wellington and surrounds for several years. The beneficiary this year is Moms for Wellington, whose main focus is to care, feed and teach around 160 children between ages three and six years.

“As they have children on their way to primary school at the end of each year, we thought it a good idea to donate Bronx school shoes. These genuine leather shoes offer excellent quality and durability. We’re thrilled that 83 learners will start this important new chapter in their lives with a decent pair of school shoes!”

Kruger said the company believes in supporting organisations in the community it operates in.

“We annually contribute to causes, especially those involved with the youth in Wellington and surrounding areas,” he said. The decision to support charities is a personal one, Kruger added. “We truly believe you should give something back and would like to thank Bolton Footwear and Bronx for their support in making it possible.”

Stuart Hopwood, Head of Group Marketing at Bolton Footwear, concludes: “We were delighted to be involved, even if it was in a very small way. Our Bronx school shoes are of excellent quality and will last until these kids outgrow them.”
