There has been a delay in the outcomes of applications to schools for the 2021 academic year, the Western Cape Education Department confirmed last week.

Parents who applied for their children to attend schools in the province earlier were scheduled to hear the outcome of the application last weekend, but as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and schools closure there is a delay in the finalisation of application outcomes.

The department announced a revised schedule for application outcomes.

Parents will be informed of the outcome via email or SMS between 12 and 22 June. If their child has been offered a place at a school in this time, they will need to accept by 3 July. “We urge parents to accept their spaces timeously, to assist us in finding spaces for unplaced learners,” Debbie Schäfer, MEC for Education, said.

“Should a parent receive an offer of a place after 3 July, they need to confirm their acceptance within three days.”
