More and more, I am noticing cars driving around in Paarl without number plates.

Many of these are flashy new vehicles that rush around at great speed, skip traffic lights, drive across stop streets without hesitation, among many other traffic violations.

It’s obvious these motorists have intentionally removed their number plates so they won’t be caught on camera or otherwise.

Earlier this year I read the City of Cape Town was taking a stricter stance against motorists whose vehicles have number plates – that is, those with plates not screwed onto the front and rear of cars properly and just haphazardly stuck on.

I would like to hear from our local authorities what are they doing about this. Have our traffic officers ever stopped such motorists and fined them?

Without these authorities actually taking a stance lawlessness and the misdoings of reckless drivers on our roads will just continue.
