On Saturday we awoke at 06:00 to no power, after already being in load shedding since 04:00.
The power in our street in Paarl was off, another street close by on and another street after that off too. Evidently this was a municipal problem. In the course of the morning, and in the heat of the day, the power in a large area remained off.
And in all of this there was no communication whatsoever from Drakenstein Municipality of what the cause of this was and what they were trying to sort out.
Eventually, at 14:00, our power came back on, 10 hours after this single outage began.
Not even the honourable councillor of Ward 4 responded to any queries about this.
Is this what we must expect from a city of excellence?
