While most people where taking time off to relax during the long weekend, Wellington police where working hard to fight crime.

Police arrested a total of 28 suspects in Wellington for various crimes including dealing and possession of drugs, possession of dangerous weapons, robbery and housebreaking and theft.

Police spokesperson Capt. Basil Seekoei said that the success could be ascribed to the Back to Basics approach, which encourages police to address the root causes of crime.

“All suspects appeared in the Wellington Magistrates court on Tuesday 26 September,” Seekoei said.

The Station Commander of the Wellington police, Col. Johan Barkhuizen, applauded members for their efforts in the fight against crime.
