Two learners from Paarl Boys’ High School recently participated in the first round of this year’s National High Schools’ Quiz hosted by the Independent Institution of Education’s (IIE) City Varsity College in Cape Town.

“The National High Schools’ Quiz creates an opportunity for young minds from different schools and backgrounds to get together in one room and to share knowledge, network and learn in a fun way, which is what learning [is] all about,” said Saleem Jackson, Campus Head of the IIE’s Varsity College Cape Town. “That is why the quiz is such an awesome event for learners to participate in.”

Aidan Conradie placed first (Grade 11 learner at Milnerton High School), Daniel Oosthuizen second (Grade 11 learner at Paarl Boys’ High School), Rayhaan Fredericks third (Grade 9 leaner at Calling Academy), Justin Naude 4th (Grade 10 learner at Milnerton) and Hugo Bruwer fifth (Grade 11 learner at Paarl Boys’) after the first round of the quiz. They will progress to the regional final to be held on Wednesday 31 August on The IIE’s Varsity College Cape Town campus.

In all, R10 000 cash is up for grabs for the overall winner in this year’s Varsity College National High Schools’ Quiz, hosted on all eight IIE campuses nationally. The quiz aims to encourage high-school learners to expand their knowledge of Geography, History, Science & Nature, Sport, Entertainment and Current Affairs by engaging with various info sources.
