Paarl CC’S two teams kept their unbeaten record intact in Cricket Boland’s Community Cup T20 competition, with resounding victories in Vredenburg last Saturday, where they clashed with Vredenburg-Saldanha CC.
The finals will be played on Saturday 16th November at Daljosaphat against Van der Stel CC, whose two teams clinched their section of the competition.
An unbeaten 86 run third wicket partnership by Darryl Hendricks (39, 4×4, 1×6) and Elliot Moses (36, 3×4) saw Paarl (100/2) clinch their 3rd bonus point in the series, after accurate bowling in a stiff breeze had restricted the home team to 98/6.
Only Giovanni Hulley (46) and Nathan Engelbrecht (21) offered some resistance against Paarl’s spin bowlers Adrian du Toit (4-0-21-2), Waylain September (4-0-21-1) and Herschelle Poggenpoel (4-0-19-1), while seamers Taywin Adams (4-0-22-1) and Tom Stevens (4-0-12-0) kept them under pressure.
Paarl’s reserve team also bagged another bonus point when they compiled 141 / 7, thanks to Dylan Martin (27, 4×6), Aqeeb Douman (25, 2×4, 1×6) and Jayden Adams (23, 3×6).
Bewran Julies (4-0-8-2) and Henrico Albertus (4-0-24-2) recorded the best bowling figures for the visitors, while Kyle Solomon, Martin and Douman captured one wicket each for the home team to finish on 92 / 8.
A large crowd is expected for the clash against unbeaten Van der Stel, who won two bonus points in their section of the competition. The Reserve team start at 10:00 and the main match is scheduled for 14:00.
