Oom Schalk Lourens (David Muller) will be telling Herman Charles Bosman stories at the Old Mill Theatre in Paarl on Sunday 9 July at 16:00.
Directed by Celia Musikanth, the seasoned Cape Town actor David Muller has taken over from Patrick Mynhardt and is bringing his innovative and unusual theatre piece to Paarl, for one show only. A whole 90 minutes of Bosman stories mixed with merry mirth and the magnificent art of sculpting.
“Unusual because it’s never been done before in the Boland,” says Muller.
“Well known South African sculptor Johan Steyn is joining me on stage with his form of first-rate, first-class visual art.”
The staging of Oom Schalk & the Sculptor combines physical with visual art. Steyn sculpts while Muller, as Oom Schalk, tells stories. What Steyn will sculpt on Sunday remains a surprise for the audience.
“All I can say is that the piece of work not only ties in with the Bosman stories but will be completed by the time I have finished the last tale,” explains the actor.
Tickets are R140 (R100 for pensioners, students and block bookings of ten or more). To book send a WhatsApp to 083 524 3744 or email oumeulteater@gmail.com.
