“It is a way for the community to recognize and identify the school through this icon. It will boost attendence at events, which will result in more financial gain,” explained Adams.

The New Orleans mascot will be a great way to improve the school’s public presence, to create everlasting memories.

The Rhino use their horns to guide, protect and help feed their offspring. Horns are used for digging to find water. This can be used to symbolize that sport offers guidance and protection. It teaches discipline and dedication, to work hard and never give up.

The horn of the rhino can also symbolize that no matter where you come from or what your circumstances are, that if you dig deep enough you can find the light and better your mind and rise above your circumstances. Adams also said that the Rhino symbolizes as a school that they are anti-poaching, that they respect the life of animals and the people around them, which brings them to the year’s theme.

“Respect for life. As a school and a community we need to stand together through the challenges that come towards us. The rhino is a symbol of power and agility among others,” said Adams.

Nevertheless, Adams said this Rhino symbolizes also the strong physical presence and aggressive behaviour on the field/court and the peaceful and steady personalities off the field/court.
