The Frank Pietersen Music Centre is set to make history this February with its first-ever musical production, Demure: A Mindful Selection of Musicals. As a groundbreaking initiative, this production also marks the first musical staged by a music centre in the Western Cape, setting a new standard for creative collaboration and artistic excellence.
Demure is a vibrant celebration of musical theatre, brought to life by the talented students and choirs of the Frank Pietersen Music Centre. Under the visionary direction and production of Blaine Josephs, the show features the dynamic performances of voice students, Children’s Choir and Adult Choir.
Adding star power to the event are acclaimed South African artists: soprano Jo-Nette Lekay, pop sensation Edó Mostert and rising star Christon Southgate. Together, this ensemble promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.
Audiences can look forward to a breathtaking journey through some of musical theatre’s most iconic moments. From the infectious grooves of Hairspray to the dark whimsy of Into the Woods, the revolutionary rhythms of Hamilton, the daring humour of Avenue Q, and the timeless melodies of The Sound of Music, Demure promises a rich and diverse showcase of musical genres and styles.
The production will run from February 19 to 21, 2025, in the school hall, offering an inspiring and entertaining experience for all who attend.
