For the past 22 years Rock Care has served the greater Paarl area through crisis and family care, community care and youth development. As a registered NPO established in 2000 this community action group believes in changing our world one life at a time, making a difference by inspiring hope in individuals through focused and effective social action.

Through the Covid lockdown a lot of strain was placed on many services and resources, but quick thinking and changing to new ways of reaching people in a practical manner meant that the Rock Care team was able to continue with their vision of making a difference.

Equipping themselves with new ideas and strategies to help the community in the future has also led to them looking at expanding to some of the more rural areas that have limited means of transport.

They are happy to say that they are still running their Strength and Shine courses for teens and pre-teens, are again planning youth leadership development events and are continuing to provide emergency relief.

They are also continuing with free pregnancy testing, counselling around any pregnancy crises, post abortion or miscarriages, and providing a parcel of baby clothes and toiletries every three months until baby’s second birthday for those mothers who choose to join their program. All counselling is done by a team of qualified counsellors who handle each person with respect and confidentiality. They are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 09:00-13:00, at The Rock Centre, 27 Berg River Boulevard and can be contacted on 078 880 0776 for more information.

If you would like to know more about Rock Care or make a donation of baby clothing, blankets, nappies or toiletries you can also call the above number, or donations can be dropped off at the offices at 27 Berg River Boulevard on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 09:00 and 13:00.

If you would like to make a monetary donation towards helping to reach those less fortunate, you can find more information and banking details on the website www.rockcare.org or again call 078 880 0776 for more information.
