Through its Project Dignity campaign Obsidian Jewellery Studio in the Western Cape managed to raise funds to supply 236 girls at Klapmuts Primary School with Subz washable and reusable sanitary pads. Project Dignity was run throughout August, Women’s Month.

Project Dignity provides young South African women from disadvantaged communities with reusable, eco-friendly sanitary pads and panties, thus reducing school absenteeism rates particularly at sensitive times of the month.

Lily du Toit of Obsidian thanked all the companies and individuals who sponsored the campaign, a huge success, and which is earmarked for every August.

The handover took place on Wednesday 21 September at the school. Liza Adlem of Subz Pants and Pads spoke to the girls about puberty, menstruation and how best to use and look after their Subz packs.
