More than 20 brave athletes from Paarl Athletics Club are on their way to KwaZulu-Natal to partake in one of the world’s most gruelling ultra marathons, the Comrades. This year sees another down run, albeit a slightly shorter distance. This year’s course, starting from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and ending at Durban’s Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, will be one of the shortest in history. It comes in at 87.701 km, which is nearly 2.2 km shorter than the last year’s down run of 89.885 km. Some of Paarl’s comrades who will be taking on this gruelling are (the amount of Comrades’ the have run in brackets) Russel Abrahams (1)
