The Komesho Shellhole of the Wellington MOTHS (Memorable Order of the Tin Hats) awarded life membership to one of its members at the order’s monthly Shellhole meeting on Sunday 2 June. Moth Colin Wilmot (third from left) joined the MOTHS in Wellington in 2013, but has been a member of the order for much longer. MOTHS was established shortly after the First World War as a support system for men and women who had served their country’s in various wars. Wilmot started his national service at the age of 18 in 1959, and his last active duty was at the Tempe training area in 1965. Wilmot is “in good standing”, and is an example to other Moths of practising the three ideals of the order – true comradeship, mutual help and sound memory. He livens up many Shellhole meetings with his personality and unique quirks, and takes a keen interest in the Shellhole finances. At his advanced age he is still a keen bowler, especially in the Shellhole bowls days held every first Sunday in March, and assists in the Shellhole annual golf day held in September.Foto:
