The Etienne Marais Karate Academy had 32 athletes, who represented the Cape Winelands Karate team that took part at the Western Cape Karate Championships.The young athletes participated in the Children’s Karate South Africa Championships which were held in Cape Town. At the back is Ayrin Riffel (bronze for senior men kata and kumite and gold for senior men), who competed in the Durban event for senior karateka. In front are Nathan Uren (gold boys kumite u-9), Nahum Bothma (bronze kumite u-9), Lusapho Stofile (kumite u-11), Jayla-Rose Ringquest (silver kata and bronze kumite u-9), Thaahir Ajam (gold kata u-9) and Khaidan Poggenpoel (silver kumite u-9).
