Ligstraal School for learners with special needs proudly launched a new mentorship programme recently for boys at the school.
It is known as G.E.N.T.S Club, Calvin Davids, a teacher at the school who is involved with the programme, pointed out.
“G.E.N.T.S Club is a programme that stands for Growth, Empathy, Nurture, Trust and Self-respect,” he explained. “This initiative is specially designed for our special needs learners at Ligstraal School who face significant challenges at home, particularly those without a father-figure or positive role models.
“Our dedicated male staff are stepping up as mentors, father-figures and role models to guide and support these young individuals. With the help of Mr Florance Vermeulen from Apex High School in Eerste River and Ds Kevin Alberts from VGK Emmanuel church in Paarl, we believe through this programme we can give them hope for a brighter future, by instilling values that will empower them to overcome their challenges.”
The learners have welcomed the programme with open arms and looked forward to the journey ahead.
Davids added: “Together, we are shaping tomorrow’s leaders with care, compassion and commitment!”
