Here (from left) are newly qualified medical doctors Shannon Benjamin, Melissa Sampson, Chelsea du Plessis and Aaliyah Essop. They started their schooling as Grade 1 learners at La Rochelle Girls Primary School in 2007 and went on to La Rochelle Girls High, where they matriculated in 2018. From 2019 their academic association continued at Stellenbosch University Medical School (Tygerberg campus), where they successfully completed their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2024. The fifth medical doctor of Paarl to graduate recently is Cleo Julies (insert), who matriculated from Noorder Paarl High in 2018. They will all start their two-year internship in various provinces. This is an achievement the “Valley of the Pearl” should be proud of and should serve as motivation for the youth of the area to dream big and live life to the full. These young doctors are an example of what can be achieved if you work hard.
