The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) confirmed that the fire burning in the Kogmanskloof area above Ashton and Montagu remains active.
According to the municipality, the blaze continues to burn in a broken line along the mountain tops and occasionally moves into more accessible areas. CWDM in partnership with CapeNature, will maintain active firefighting operations over the next 24 hours.

Fire vehicles and crews from the CWDM’s Worcester and Ceres stations remain on standby to protect properties if required. Teams are being supported by the Winelands Fire Protection Association (FPA) to ensure clear and consistent communication with landowners.
Throughout today and into tomorrow, CapeNature will deploy additional resources to re-establish firebreaks in the affected areas.
A warm day with light winds has been forecast. Although temperatures on the mountain tops remain cool, they are expected to rise during the day, creating challenging conditions for firefighters.
