Two of Bridge House’s Matrics of 2010, Carlo Vanzaghi (SLC executive) and Suzanne Pretorius (head girl) recently graduated with medical degrees.
Pretorius achieved her MBChB cum laude (with honours). She was awarded the medal for Top Undergraduate Student of this year’s class. The overall average for her studies was 83%.
She is the first female student in the history of Stellenbosch University to achieve distinctions in all 38 of her modules over six years of study.
Moreover, she was the only one in her class of 222 to achieve 11 distinctions in her final year (seven surgical and five medical modules). She was also top student in Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Clinical Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Clinical Skills.
A number of Bridge House students have in the past been accepted to study medicine and veterinary science.
Of the comparatively small number of past pupils of Bridge House since its inaugural matric class of seven in 1997, 14 doctors and three veterinarians are in the process of qualifying, or have qualified.
