The Sanlam Boland Kavaliers have received a timely boost for their Carling Currie Cup semi-final against the Fidelity ADT Lions at Ellis Park on Saturday (kick-off 17:00), with playmaker Ashlon Davids and fullback James Tedder both returning to the starting line-up.
Head coach Hawies Fourie confirmed his match-day 23 on Thursday, welcoming back Davids at flyhalf after injury and Tedder at fullback following his absence from last week’s Western Cape derby against DHL Western Province.
Their inclusion adds valuable experience and firepower to a side already carrying extra motivation — Davids, Tedder, Sibusiso Sangweni, and HP van Schoor all previously turned out for the Lions at Ellis Park.
Boland will, however, be without two influential players, with winger Donovan Don (thigh) and front rower Wayrin Losper (shoulder) ruled out through injury. Jayden Bantom earns his first start on the wing, while veteran scrumhalf Louis Schreuder returns to the No 9 jersey.
Up front, Ameer Hendricks replaces Michael Benadie at lock, the fit-again Khwezi Mafu comes in at openside flank, and Mthokozisi Gumede starts at loosehead prop in Losper’s absence.
