DRUNK DRIVING: Wellington police are investigating a case of drunken driving after a 49-year-old man drove through a wall in Patrys Street on Sunday 7 April at 19:00. According to bystanders the suspect’s eyes were bloodshot, his breath smelled of alcohol and he fell out of the silver Mazda bakkie when the door was opened. The driver was arrested.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY: A 33-year-old male suspect was caught for allegedly being in possession of stolen propertyon Friday 5 April. Security guards were patrolling the R44 Hermon Road at 23:45 when they saw a fire under the bridge at the Block House. On investigation, two suspects were found burning 40 metres of copper cable and had .22 bullet in their possession. One suspect fled but police arrested the 33-year-old.
. On Friday 5 April, Wellington police arrested a 44-year-old man suspected of being in possession of stolen property. A police officer was informed that a man had jumped over a wall in Oxford Street carrying a large white bag. The policeman confronted the suspect, in the bag in his possession an aluminium engine block was found. The man denied having any knowledge of where the engine block had come from. He was then arrested.
. A 26-year-old man was arrested in Gans Street, Weltevrede on Sunday 7 April with various presumed-stolen items in his possession, such as a Dell laptop, a Sony Experia cellphone, a Tempo watch and Nike shoes. Police also found All Stars and Vans shoes during a search of his home.
RAPE: An Oakdene Road man was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman in her bedroom, where she had been asleep. The victim told police she woke during the assault. Her attacker was known to her. She managed to chase him away, and he was later arrested.
