Karel Dampies, chairperson of Angels of Hope and a community worker in the Cape Winelands and Drakenstein, was recognised for his contribution to the region by Cultural Affairs and Sport Minister Anroux Marais at a function at Artscape in Cape Town. Dampies was nominated as Active Volunteer of the Year in Museums and received certificates for his substantial contribution to the department and his advancement of reading.
