More rain is forecast this week and dam levels already look significantly better than this time last year.

In the Western Cape, dams’ overall water levels have risen to the highest in a decade – at the moment it is 85% compared to 81.5% last week and 56.8% in the corresponding period last year.

The Berg River catchment area rose to 88.71% compared to 88% last week and 61.02% a year ago.

The level of the Theewaterskloof Dam, the largest storage dam in the province, has also risen extremely well and is now already full and stands at 102.03% compared to 96.39% last week and 72.3% a year ago.

The water levels of other dams in the area are:

• Berg Rivier Dam: 100.67% (103.51% last week and 82.19% in 2022);

• Wemmershoek Dam: 99.90% (98.70% last week and 57.77% in 2022); and

• Voëlvlei Dam: 68.97% (63.35% last week and 61.28% in 2022).

Tomorrow (Tuesday 27 June) an 80% chance of rain is expected for Paarl and Wellington.
