Last week Drakenstein Municipality announced it had received the eighth clean audit opinion from the Auditor-General of South Africa for the 2021-’22 financial year.
It ascribed its eighth clean audit and 15th unqualified audit opinion to uncompromising fiscal discipline, clean governance and responsible financial management.
A clean audit outcome occurs when submitted financial statements are free from material misstatements (in other words, a financially unqualified audit opinion) and there are no material findings on reporting on performance objectives as well as non-compliance with legislation.
“We are delighted again to receive a clean bill of health from the Auditor-General,” said Alderman Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor. “This clean audit is a testament to hard work and keeping our eye on the ball.
“I want to congratulate Dr Johan Leibbrandt, our City Manager, and his management team.”
According to the municipality, it had been commended by the Auditor-General for sustaining its clean audit status and improving its financial viability, despite the struggling economy as well as increased financial pressure on businesses, residents and the municipal purse.
