Paarl’s very talented pianist, Mike Wang, will be performing with the Winelands Philharmonic Orchestra for an extraordinary evening of music with their upcoming concert, American Rhythms, at the Stellenbosch Woordfees. Under the expert baton of conductor Reghardt Kühn, this performance is set to deliver a captivating journey through American classical music.
American Rhythms will highlight a trio of iconic compositions showcasing American musical heritage’s richness and diversity. The evening will begin with the sweeping grandeur of Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring”, followed by the vibrant and infectious energy of Arturo Márquez’s “Danzón No. 2”. The centerpiece of the concert will be George Gershwin’s beloved “Rhapsody in Blue” with the remarkably talented Wang as the featured soloist.
Wang, a matric learner of Paarl Boys’ High School and a rising star in the piano world, will bring a fresh and brilliant interpretation to this timeless masterpiece.
