Four riders of Alpha Equestrian have done exceptionally well in the Sanesa school league this year.
Mia van Tonder, representing Paarl Gimnasium, and an Alpha Equestrian riding school horse, Montago’s Jenga, are the top rider and horse combination for Cape Winelands, and tied highest scorer for the entire Western Cape. Van Tonder and Jenga have competed through the year, over five qualifying events, and represented Cape Winelands (and her school Paarl Gimnasium) this weekend at the Western Cape Sanesa Finals. They walked off with 4 x 1st places, 2 x 2nd places and 2 x 3rd places from the 8 classes they competed in. Paarl Gimnasium, therefore, finished 2nd out of all the schools in the Western Cape, with only two pupils representing them! This is a massive achievement for Mia and for her school.
Lienke Conradie and her horse Salvador, representing Paarl Girls, have also been doing very well this year. Lienke and Salvador did exceptionally well at their first-ever Sanesa Western Cape Finals, receiving 2 x 1st places, 1 x 3rd place and 2 x 6th out of the 5 events they represented Cape Winelands in.
Courtney Kypriotis and her horse Davenport Rex Grande have been chosen to represent the Western Cape in eventing at the nationals to be held in October in Gauteng this year. They had to excel in qualifying events to be considered for this honour. She represented La Rochelle during the qualifying events.
Skyla Kurtz and her horse Gallivant have also been chosen to go up to nationals representing the Western Cape in eventing, after doing exceedingly well in the qualifying events. Skyla represents Paarl Girls High.
