The heat wave which almost paralysed the valley last weekend is due to continue this weekend, with temperatures again hitting the 40s. SAWeather stated its stations measured a high of 42,8°C for Paarl and 44,2°C for Wellington. The hottest last recorded for Paarl had been 46,2°C in March 2010 and 45,5°C for Wellington, also in 2010. The public is urged to be extremely cautious at this time when using any open flame, as veld and mountain fires have ravaged various areas due to hot, dry and windy conditions. Here some youngsters of the Divine Kids Play School enjoy a welcome slice of watermelon, the perfect treat to beat the heat.
